Many schools around Kasese Municipality have demonstrated compliance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health in the fight against the Ebola outbreak.
During a survey conducted by our reporter , Mr. Everest Masika, the Deputy Head Teacher of Citizen Nursery and Primary School in Railway Ward, together with the school bursar, Joachim Baluku, said the school has maintained handwashing facilities at the gate and within the school compound to enable learners to wash their hands regularly.
They also urged visitors and members of the public to comply with the preventive measures, noting that they are important in controlling the spread of the disease.

Speaking to our reporter, the Head Teacher of Trusted Care Junior School, Kyana Cyprus, said the school has regulated the number of visitors entering the premises, adding that special attention is given to individuals arriving from sub-counties bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mr. Kyana further revealed that the school conducts daily health parades to educate learners on Ebola prevention and other health precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, Zalimon Muhindo, the Head Teacher of Royal Modern Primary School, said learners in the boarding section are adequately spaced in dormitories to ensure proper social distancing, encouraging other schools to adopt similar measures to avoid becoming victims of the outbreak.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called upon all stakeholders to strictly observe and promote the Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola.
