KASESE – In a significant milestone for the Anglican community in Western Uganda, the worldwide Anglican church Diocese of Kasese has celebrated the ordination of over 12 religious leaders, signaling a period of robust spiritual and structural growth.

The newly ordained cohort, which includes priests, deacons, reverends, and evangelists, has been tasked with guiding a “growing flock” as the diocese expands its reach across the region.

Presiding over the ceremony, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Bwambale, Bishop of the Diocese, described the event as a clear testament to the church’s increasing influence and vitality in Kasese.

During his charge to the congregation, Bishop Bwambale offered words of encouragement, urging Christians to remain resilient despite life’s challenges.

Among those ordained was Rev. Sebeya Peter, who has been deployed to serve in Kinyamaseke Town Council. Rev. Peter expressed deep gratitude for his new role and laid out an ambitious agenda for his tenure.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Rev. Peter has been placed in charge of development. He pledged to prioritize the physical establishment of the church, vowing to ensure that 25 churches under the Worldwide Anglican Church are constructed as permanent structures. This initiative is expected to provide stable places of worship and community hubs for thousands of believers.

The ceremony also highlighted the evolving role of women within the church hierarchy. Tumusiime Scovia, one of the newly ordained evangelists, used the platform to call upon women to take up the mantle of leadership.

Evangelist Scovia urged women to find a balance between their spiritual callings and their domestic responsibilities, encouraging them to join the ministry of God while continuing to serve as the pillars of their families.

The ordination of these 12 leaders marks a new chapter for the Diocese of Kasese, blending spiritual outreach with a clear commitment to local development and inclusive ministry.
